A design odyssey: revamping Cobalt’s identity and website

Rareview® was engaged as Cobalt's design agency recently where we collaborated closely with their team in a consultative capacity. Our responsibilities encompassed a thorough assessment of their market positioning, an in-depth analysis of the competitive landscape, and the formulation of strategies for repositioning their products.

This multifaceted approach involved a brand refresh, content strategy and creation, and the design of a new website. You can learn more by viewing the case study below.

In this post, we invite you to join us on a quick guided exploration of our work and processes, offering a glimpse into the intricacies of what we do. As we delve into this project and methodologies, you'll gain insight into the inner workings of our creative and strategic endeavors. Whether it's designing captivating brands, crafting compelling content, or implementing innovative solutions, this overview will provide you with a window into the world of our agency and the way we approach our work.

Project Summary

Wireframes

We utilized Cobalt's previous website and existing materials as a starting point to assess their current market positioning. Once we had a clear understanding, we formulated a strategic plan and initiated a brainstorming session to explore innovative ways of presenting their product offerings through wireframes.

Concepts

Our design team brainstormed and crafted numerous iterations of the website, delving into aspects like fonts, colors, imagery, videos, and iconography. Our focus extended to establishing a robust architectural framework for the project.

Components

Design systems are essential for creating consistent and cohesive frameworks in digital product and website development. For Cobalt, we established a comprehensive system that included reusable components, guidelines, and standards to define the brand and website’s visual and functional elements.

Opening sequence

Early in the project, it became evident that we envisioned the website having an opening sequence that efficiently conveyed the synergy between the product (robotics) and services (command center). Our aim was to vividly illustrate how Cobalt's offerings seamlessly come together to deliver their functionality. Here is the evolution of this idea.
